Hello! Read all about the important happenings for this week! No School on Monday, May 25th - Memorial Day Students will have their Spelling Test on Tuesday, May 26th! Memory Work is Due this Friday, May 29th. It is on the back of their red folder. Book Report Information: The students that will share their Book Reports on, Wednesday, May 27th are Jacob Zurin, Olivia Schwenk, Ashlynn Rapp, Anthony Rainondo, Abigail Myers Thursday, May 28th are Conner Miller, Lillia Lewis, Darah Kraenbring, Owen Hummer, Emily Horst, Matthew Gish Friday, May 29th are Toren Erickson, Audrey Dippel, Evan Dribbler, Regan Brandt, Jariyah Bell Remember they need to do a project to go with their Book Report I will be taking a picture of them. Please Return the Spelling Folder each Monday or Tuesday this week because of the Holiday on Monday. Please keep the spelling word list and sentences at home.
Language Arts Reading Strategy: Create Mental Images
Good readers use strategies, such as creating mental images, to make sense of things as they read. This helps them picture events in their minds.
Reading Skill: Homophones
Homophones are words that sound alike but have different meanings. (e.g., see - sea, won - one, night - knight, bee - be, red - read, sum - some) Learning about homophones will help them figure out the meaning of words as they read.
Vocabulary Words: cozy, drifted, fleet, launched, looming, realized Grammar - Students will be doing activities learning about adverbs. They are words that tell about a verb. (e.g., The rabbit was running quickly on the dusty trail.)
Using adjectives to compare people, places, and things. Add -er to adjectives to compare two nouns. (e.g., Today is cooler than yesterday. Add -est to adjectives that compare three or more nouns. (e.g., This is the warmest day this week.)
Students will continue to do activities learning about the seven different ways to show more then one.
Review the four different types of sentences. ( e.g.Statement, Question, Command, and Exclamation) Math Practice

Unit Twelve - It has four main areas. 1.) To review time equivalencies and calendar facts; to read times in different ways and show time on a clock face, 2.) To show events on a timeline, 3.) To review and extend shortcuts and strategies for learning multiplication facts; to investigate the relationship between multiplication and division, and 4.) To collect and analyze data related to measurement, using line plots, frequency tables, and bar graphs; to identify the range, median, and mode. Social Studies: Students will learn about the First Native Americans. Included in these groups are the Powhatan people that lived along the Atlantic coast, the Sioux people that lived on the grassy plains, the Pueblo people that lived in the dry desert of the Southwest. They will learn about Ella Cara Deloris a Native American Sious that was born on a reservation in South Dakota.
Map Skill - Students will look at an Atlas Book. This gives pictures of the people and the way they live in each of the continents.Students will locate the country and the continent that we are praying for in our Chapel Theme this year, Who Is Our Neighbor? There is still time to bring money to share with the people in Nepal that experienced the Terrible earthquake on April 15th and another earthquake several days ago. Thanks for several students that already shared their money.
